Well it has been a long time since I posted anything on our blog. So long that I'd be suprised if anyone is reading this.

Debbie and I decided that we would take one of the best days of the year and head to the mountains. We decided to go to Maple pass which is a nice day hike about 3 hours from home. It was a 7 mile hike with sweeping vistas pretty much the whole hike. It was extreamly gratifying. So here are some shots that we took.

Miracle of miracles, I now have another sweetheart in my life. She has captured my love and admiration instantaneously. Her name is Olivia and she is the one in the incubator with the scuba mask. Weighing in at 2 lbs 11 oz born on July 17 2009. It is so fun having Debbie there to enjoy being with the grandkids.

We had an incredible 4th this year. We simply enjoyed the most beautiful sunset ever seen. Then we enjoyed everyones fireworks as we walked home and had a nice cosy night siping yummy hot chocolated from our deck.

On the 4th of July we had fireworks like we have never seen before. Our kind heavenly father lit up the sky with colors and light that put the sparklers and bombs purchased from the indian reservations to shame. Indeed it was a sight to behold. We loved it and took many pictures.

This past week I had a conference for the North West Wall and Celing in Banff Canada. Rather than fly there myself I realized that If we drove there I would be able to take Debbie and Derek with me without costing us. With a little push Debbie and Derek were willing. It was a great decision. We had 3 wonderfull days in one of the most beautifull places on the earth. We have never been to the Switz Alps but we cant believe that they are any more stunning that the mountains in Banff. It seemed that around every turn thier was a new and stunning panarama of Mountains. The hotel was amazing. As you came thru town and around the corner the Banff Springs Hotel jumped off the page. Here are a few pictures for everyone to enjoy.

Thanksgiving was certainly not complete without visiting those who have loved us and blessed us with life. We love our Family who have gone ahead of us.

We got to stay with Brian and Dana. We had a blast. Watching a movie with Brian is great because he turns up the volume just like I like it am Mom dosn't even make me turn it down. Thanks Dana & Brian we love you guys.

We had the greatest time ever visiting Danielle Steve Garrett, & Ethan in beautifull Huston. It was an amazing time and we loved being with playing with our Grandkids. We tell everyone that we went to Texas to trick or treat because the candy bars are bigger there. But we all know that no amount of Chocolate can compare to carving pumpkins with Garrett or seeing Ethan do magic tricks. Thanks Danielle and Steve for having us. It was awsome....

Thanksgiving in Utah

We all may be about 5 pounds heavier but boy did we sure have fun. We picked derek up in Rexburg and Dawnia in Logan. We stayed in salt lake and helped Dana in her classroom, it was so much fun. Met with family all week and got to spend some really good quality time with Dawnia and Derek. Here are a few pictures. We miss you all who we didnt get the opportunity to share it with. Wow, I had a great time fishing on the Grand Rhond River in SE Washington. It was sooo beautiful. I wished I could say that I caught a lot of fish but I didn't. I did become a professional guide however. I spend a couple of days of my trip taking others clients and guiding them. It was fun. I even got paid.

Derek Mom and I were able to stay in Idaho Falls. We were at the Red Lion Inn and had a great view of the Idaho Falls Temple. It was special having Derek with us, and spending some time with him on the trip.

One sad truth about mom's life is that even though all her 6 children are grown up and out of the house, she never quite got away from the cheesy school-made gifts for christmas, mother's days, etc. One day I will grow up and leave the elementary school lifestyle, but in the meantime, as burdened as she is, she still puts on a big smile and tells me that she LOVES her handpainted christmas tree ornament shaped like a wreath with a school picture of her 24-year old daughter in the center! Just like when I was a little girl! Well, today, I have to burden her one last time as I glory in what I think is the most accurate likeness I have ever drawn of Mom as I prepared my class yesterday to do their Mother's Portraits. So mom, here you go . . . Happy Mother's Day!

Hello everyone. Well, I asked Dawnia to tell us about her ping pong successes but she felt it was a bit self serving and refused to write anything. So here I am telling you all and especially giving Dallan and Deven advance notice that their little sister may in fact whoop em in a game next time. Dawnia had a Ping Pong class at college where she has been learning the fine Art of the game of Ping pong. She was successful in beating everyone in the class. They held a tournament in which Dawnia won the whole thing. She must have been awesome. The guy she beat was extremely upset with the loss and told Dawnia that they were still friends but that he was very ticked off that she had beat him. She is to be awarded a prize on Monday, I'm hoping it is a full ride scholarship. In asking Dawnia how she was able to beat him she said she played to his weaker backhand side keeping the ball low to the net and just playing the angles. She said that occasionally she would serve him up a nice juicy forehand ball with a wicked undercut, which worked quite well in getting him to slam it into the net. Well, done Dawnia !!!I wished I had a picture to post with this but I don't. Maybe we can ask Dawnia to post one for us.Love ya all. Lets all work on our ping pong game so we can be ready for Dawnia next Christmas.Dad

Had a great time with Deven. He is doing very will. We played B-ball from which I am still stiff and sore, but what do you expect from a 45 year old. I'm starting to wish I had some childhood pictures to post on here too! Actually, I'm starting to wish I had a scanner so if I had some, I could post them! But since I don't have either, I thought I would update you on life in the Nye household and show you our recent pictures. =)

Last week, we went to the Jazz game (one of Brian's friends invited us) and we sat on the 10th row! It was a lot of fun, even though we were losing the whole game. But in the 4th quarter the Jazz pulled ahead and won the game! It was very exciting!!

The next night (Brian's birthday), our washer broke and leaked through the 2 floors beneath us. They say all the water got trapped between the sub-flooring or something, so it's actually still leaking on our neighbors (5 days later). The fault is believed to be with RC Willey's, though, for installing it wrong. In the meantime, our washer is being checked over and over by their people and our stackable dryer is patiently waiting in our kitchen. Here is a pic of our present layout:

Baking and eating is a pretty interesting experience! It's great motivation to keep working out though- I have to suck in when I slide around it!

Right now, it's a little lonely- Brian's out of town again. But he'll be back Wed night, so at least the end is in sight. I hope all of you are having a good week! Love you all!

So my first thought was...did we not notice that our heads were literally just inches from seagull poop?

Then I realized that we did notice, but just didn't care! Well, at least Dallan seems to care a bit...he looks absolutely disgusted! :) Smart kid! And Dana is wisely keeping her distance...only allowing a portion of her to get close enough for the picture!

Ahhhh...the good ol' days on the boat! Makes me miss the old sailboat...but then again, I wasn't ever the one to have to chase it around the island after every big windstorm! :)

Hi Everyone! This is my first time blogging!! (so cross me off your blackmail list, Danielle!) I thought I'd post a picture of our new bed. We're quite excited about it. And just so you know, all those light spots on the headboard are actually shelves- I couldn't really get a good picture of it. I was trying to wait until I had a photo of our brand new painting of the Salt Lake Temple (thanks to Dani & Steve!!!!!) on the wall, but you'll all have to wait for that surprise because I'm pretty slow at deciding where to hang things!

Oh, and correction to Dad's earlier blog . . . Brian's birthday is on Thursday (Feb 28).

Things are going well with us. School is good. Brian's work is going well (if they could only stop sending him out of town every other week!!!). We're adapting to married life. We've got our routine down: I come home from work and read a book on the couch next to Brian while he plays xbox. Then we usually conclude the day with a couple episodes of Gilmore Girls. It's a pretty nice life. =)

It is official...Garrett can now pump all by himself!!! I don't know who is more excited...him or me! Isn't he cute??? He loves the swing...although he looks quite subdued in the picture! He's usually laughing like crazy...especially if Garrett is anywhere nearby!

Walla... 1st post from Dad
Not sure how to do this stuff, you know its hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Anyway, I'm bound determined to show you that I am not an old dog. Anyway, funny story for you all. I'll have to take a picture to show you all so you can really appreciate what I am going to tell you. Its not often that I do something really really stupid. Today however I out did myself. I was at the Elger bay store waiting for Dallan to get gas for his truck. I backed into a parking spot on the edge of the store where I waited for Dallan. I noticed a guy looking at the stone in Dallans truck and I thought that I should give him a business card when he drives by. So I quickly grabbed a business card and then at the right time I opened my door and ran over to this guys truck. I was just explaining that I do stone work when the guy tells me that my car is rolling away. I turned to see and my car must have been in Reverse. It rolled off the pavement down a steep slope and them to my horror it went over a cliff. I mean a 10 foot cliff and with little or no slope to it. I took off running only to my suprise to be passed by Dallan flying off the cliff trying to catch up to the truck. At the bottom of the drop off it was flat and sandy for about 30 ' before it went over another 20 to 30' drop off into someones house. Luckily Dallan with wings on his back was able to get to the truck open the door and slam on the brakes. I was stunned. Looking at what had just happened and seeing the cliff that the jeep went over I was shocked. It was amazing taht it never rolled . It went perfectly straight off which kept it from rolling and then at the bottom it was really sandy so it had just enought to keep it from fliping over on its top. The Jeep had sand in the rear tire located on the back door. I told mom that I am glad that I paid my tithing. Anyway, I'll post some pictures for all to see. Yep I was embarrased. Especially doing something like this in front of all Dallans friends and this who knows who in the Truck with 4 or 5 people in it. Everyone was laughing. Well now you know you dad is not perfect and I can and will do some of the most stupid things. If you don't believe me just ask mom.Love DAD
